What are the cheapest ways you've seen good shows
in NYC? |
| |
-
TKTS- the one in South Street Seaport never has a line and you
can get the tickets earlier during the day.
|
-
There is 'play by play' where you pay $100 a year and get
tickets for $3.
|
-
By
joining TDF, you can get a flyer in the mail for tickets and
then purchase tickets online for very low prices; I have yet to
pay over $40/per ticket from TDF. TDF offers Broadway, Off-
Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, dance, opera, and all kinds of
theatrical tickets.

-
Theater Extras (www.theaterextras.com),
the membership fee for this site is a little more expensive, I
think $99 for the year but then the tickets are free and you
only have to pay a $4.00 per ticket processing fee. This site is
used when shows need to paper their house, which is why it is
essentially a free ticket.

I
get free tickets off of the equity bulletin board...there are
quite often free tickets to Broadway and off Broadway shows at
Actors Equity.
|
-
Mostly I get comps for B'way or off B'way from friends.
|
- There are a few theatre's that
you can volunteer to usher at. Then they give you tickets in
return. I can't think of their names. Not broadway shows, I'm
talking established theatre companies in NY. Just call and ask
if you could volunteer to usher. Then ask about tickets.
