What are your favorite affordable places to eat in Manhattan?

  • 9th Avenue is full of reasonably priced restaurants—Burritoville, Say Cheese, Basilica, Vinyl, Vintage et al.  All of these places have reasonable if not totally inexpensive prices.

  • There's a place on 8th in the 40s that has 1 dollar slices.
  • When I’m really poor, I do a baked potato and chili from Wendy’s – that’s filling, pretty healthy, and 2 Bucks.
  • If you’re really poor, you can usually buy lean cuisines at dollar stores.
  • One of my favorite places to eat is the Hollywood Diner on 6th and 16th. Really nothing special, but the food is pretty good and the prices are reasonable...I don't know, I just like it. They have great breakfast!

  • For a dinner out, a great authentic Italian place is Celeste on the upper West Side—very reasonable.
  • The dollar menu at McDonald's (hey i aint proud).
  • Gray's Papaya is cheap hot dogs.
  • Say Cheese 45th St and 9th Ave.

  • Renaissance! 51st and 9th.

  • Quizno’s (By Ripley Grier), Blockheads (By AEA), Chipotle (By Chelsea Studios).

  • Other restaurants mentioned...The Spice Cove, Tony Lukes, La Paloma, Cosi, Arriba! Arriba! at 51st and 9th Ave, Tiny Thai Café, Dojo in the village, yum yum Bangkok at 9th ave between 45/46, The Indian restaurants on 1st Ave, B/t 5th and 6th Street, Boca Chica restaurant.
